Our experienced surgeons are uniquely qualified to perform your outpatient procedure and are specially trained in the latest surgical techniques. We offer the latest advances in technology, diagnostics, and equipment, including Femtosecond Laser Cataract Surgery and ORA (Optiwave Refractive Analysis).

Our surgeons are now able to offer patients an all-laser, blade-free method of cataract surgery that is revolutionizing one of the most common procedures performed in medicine today. Our LenSx Femtosecond laser system is a technological breakthrough in precision, accuracy, and safety for today’s cataract patients.

Our LenSx femtosecond laser technology allows us to take an already safe procedure and make it even better by adding a new level of precision and predictability that is simply not possible with traditional manual cataract surgery. The laser procedure is surgeon-directed, computer controlled and allows for added precision during surgery. This means our patients can return to their normal activities sooner.

Each human eye varies according to size, depth, curvature of the cornea and other essential factors. In preparation for cataract surgery, every eye is carefully measured and mapped. The LenSx laser uses a combination of highly advanced technologies to capture extremely precise, high-resolution digital images of the eye. These real-time images – plus the measurements and data they provide – are then used to plan and perform a surgery to customized specifications that were previously unachievable.

The LenSx laser also helps to gently emulsify your cataract lens which can then be more easily removed by our surgeons.

The ORA is attached to the surgical microscope in the operating room for on-demand intraoperative measurements of intraocular lens implant (IOL) calculations, helping ensure proper IOL placement and determining treatment zones for correcting astigmatism. ORA utilizes intraoperative wavefront aberrometry to enable us to perform custom refractive cataract surgery.

Having the ability to measure, refine and affirm our outcomes during the actual surgical process allows us to take cataract surgery to an entirely new level. Our breakthrough ORA intra-operative diagnostic technology allows your surgeon to make real-time surgical course corrections with on-demand measurements of the most critical components of your cataract procedure. This enhances our outcomes and reduces potential post-op complications for our patients.

Modern-day cataract surgery is considered to be one of the most successful and common surgical procedures performed today. Each year, nearly two million men and women undergo cataract surgery to restore their vision. Raider Surgery Center is proud to help introduce this innovative technology to the greater Rio Grande Valley. When you combine the benefits of ORA with our new cataract lens implant technology and our exciting Femtosecond laser technology, patients today are experiencing a higher quality of postoperative vision than at any other time in history. Our goal with refractive cataract surgery is to reduce or eliminate your need for prescription eyewear after surgery.
